Fun Facts about Säntis

  1. At 2,502 meters above sea level, Säntis is the highest mountain in the Alpstein massif of northeastern Switzerland.
  2. A first weather station was built here in 1882 and has been manned by a weatherman ever since,
  3. Säntis is the culminating point of the whole Appenzell Alps, between Lake Walen and Lake Constance.
  4. The mountain can be seen from miles away to extent in which houses called "Säntisblick" can be found in regions as far away as the Black Forest in Germany.
  5. The panorama from the summit is spectacular and if the weather allows it 6 countries can be seen: Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Leichtenstein, France, and Italy.
